Master key systems in Bethlehem, PA
One key that opens every door you manage, and individual keys that open only the doors each person needs. Designed, cut and installed on site for landlords, offices and shops.
How a master key system works
Each lock in the system is pinned so that two different keys open it: the change key, which opens only that lock, and the master, which opens all of them. Larger systems add levels: a sub-master for one floor or one building, a grand master for everything. The design is a chart before it is a set of locks, and getting the chart right is the part that keeps the system secure for years.
We design the chart with you, pin the cylinders, cut and stamp the keys, and leave you a record of who got what. When a key goes missing, only the affected lock gets re-pinned, not the whole building.
Who uses them
Landlords
A master for you, a change key per unit, and building entrances on a separate level. Rekey one unit between tenants without touching the rest.
Shops and restaurants
Front door, office and stock room on separate keys. The manager carries one key; staff carry only what they need.
Offices
Suites, closets, server rooms. Keys that follow the org chart instead of the floor plan.
Restricted option
Build the system on a restricted keyway so no change key or master can be copied without your authorization.
Setting one up
List the doors and the people
Who needs to get where. That is the whole design brief, and we can do it on the phone or at a walk-through.
We draw the chart and pin the locks
Each cylinder is pinned on site. Existing hardware usually stays; only the pinning changes.
Keys issued and recorded
Stamped keys, a written record of the system, and a plan for what happens when a key is lost.
Master key questions
Can you add to the system later?
Yes, if it is designed with room to grow. Tell us roughly how many doors you might add and we leave the space in the chart.
Does a master key system weaken security?
A poorly designed one can. A properly designed one, on good cylinders, does not, and on a restricted keyway it is stronger than what most buildings have now.
What does it cost?
It depends on the number of doors, whether the existing cylinders can be used, and whether you want a restricted keyway. We walk you through the pricing structure after a door count.
